A wistful melancholy runs deeply through I Recover’s melodic hardcore on this their debut full-length.

Taut, angular guitars and rasping vocals are underpinned by a thoroughly resonant rhythm section.  Shrewd use of melody, spoken word segments, and group vocals ensure a record that is energetic and reflective in equal measure.  It puts me in mind of the heart-on-sleeve punk of Hot Water Music filtered through the prism of 1980s’ Dischord releases, perhaps most notably Rites of Spring.
